Switzerland debuted at Eurovision in 1956, hosting and winning the first contest. They secured a second victory in 1988 with Celine Dion. Notably absent in 1995, 1999, 2001, and 2003, they've struggled in recent years but achieved top-five finishes in 2019 and 2021. Switzerland often uses national finals for song selection.
