"Due vite" was performed by Marco Mengoni, and is the lead single from his eighth studio album, Materia (Prisma) (2023). Released on February 8, 2023, it was Mengoni's winning entry at the Sanremo Music Festival 2023 and represented Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest 2023, finishing fourth.
The song explores the duality of life, with Mengoni describing it as the interplay between reason and the unconscious, drawing inspiration from Italian singer Lucio Dalla. I tried to bring to combine Marco's, typically, happy demeanour and the song's seriousness by creating a serious, though open, portrait for Marco and the dual(istic) light bulbs from the video clip circling around him. His body is fractured into multiple pieces, symbolising the song's break up.
